Vodafone Group Plc announced its intention to create a strategic partnership with Accenture to commercialise Vodafone’s shared operations (VOIS).

Vodafone is accelerating its commercialisation of market leading shared services operations. In recent developments, Accenture is investing €150 M in the new shared services entity for an undisclosed minority stake in the partnership.

Accenture’s world class technology, industry and transformation services, and talent development expertise will accelerate growth, enhance customer service, and drive significant efficiencies for Vodafone’s operating companies and partner markets, as well as create new career opportunities for its people.

The Expectations

This strategic partnership will build on Vodafone’s market leading shared services unit, Vodafone Intelligent Solutions (VOIS), to create a scaled, commercially driven, and more efficient organization with high quality services and enhanced speed to market for its portfolio of offerings.
Under this new model for the industry, Vodafone will retain majority interest, management control, and sourcing decisions.
The new unit will utilize Accenture’s technology and transformation services such as digital solutions and platforms, and deep AI expertise. It will also tap into Accenture’s well-known learning capabilities for creating new skilling and career paths for its people.

By leveraging the brands, investments, scale, strengths, and expertise of both companies, the strategic partnership will build on over a decade of high-performance expansion and will empower Vodafone’s transformation by creating a more agile and efficient organisation that will enable its strategy to focus on customers, simplicity, and growth. Vodafone and Accenture have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, and the strategic partnership is subject to the completion of the definitive agreements, which are expected to be completed in the Spring of 2024.
The partnership will commit to delivering best-in-class service levels and innovation to Vodafone Group through a long-term agreement, demonstrating the deep partnership commitment between Accenture and Vodafone and the comprehensive services portfolio that the new organisation will be able to offer.

Gary Adey-New Chair of Triathlon Trust

Gary Adey has been named the new chair of the Triathlon Trust, bringing with him experience as a Group Director at Vodafone and as the Chair of the Teenage Cancer Trust Corporate Board.

Adey will lead the Trustees of the Triathlon Trust in working alongside British Triathlon, Triathlon England, Triathlon Scotland and Welsh Triathlon to help bring swim, bike, run to the next generation of children and young people looking to get active.

Embracing the change

Earlier this year, our VOIS research team set out to measure job seekers expectations and views in the countries where we operate. We wanted to find out whether aspirations had shifted since the pandemic and how people’s career goals had changed – and crucially see how we measure up as an employer of more than 31,700 people globally. Surveying more than 5,000 people across 10 countries, we found that while a good salary tops the list of priorities for 61% of respondents – no surprises there - when it comes to career goals, the number one objective is work-life balance which has seen an increase in popularity since the pandemic, rising from 46% to 51%, followed by job security which rose from 43% to 45.A quarter (25%) of respondents also say they want a job that makes them feel they are serving the greater good, rising from (22%) pre-pandemic.
